Prerequisites
Admitted to ArtEZ Composition for Film and Theatre.
Competencies
See Competencies Matrix.
Aims
Acquiring a basic and broad understanding of a variety of topics important when composing and arranging for film and theatre. This subject also provides a great deal of vital information for students to make good choices in electives and the profile the student chooses for themselves later on in their studies.
Relation to other modules
Electives.
Content
Students learn how to set priorities for their career. What am I good in? What makes me a happy composer? Where do I see my commercial path? What can I develop? What are my strategies? What are my ambitions? How can I find the balance?
Mode(s) of instruction
Group lessons that, depending on the composition of the group, take place entirely on-campus, entirely online or in a combination of both, i.e., that there are attendees both physically in the classroom and virtually via a screen. Online attendees communicate by seeing, talking and listening to each other and the on-campus attendees equally. The teacher has access to a whiteboard, application sharing, desktop sharing and document sharing and can hand this privilege to any other participants.
Apart from the video conference a high quality stereo audio stream is open at the same time via source connect. That way students and instructor can listen to music from any source of the group and talk about it simultaneously.
All online lessons are recorded and though available for students later on.
Material & Tools
A laptop to write and share content.
Student activity
Students start developing a vision for their career. Illusions might break away, utopia is welcome. A self reflecting process and an active development towards a personal career plan is part of the student’s work here. From there students start into various topics.

Examination and assessment

Mode(s) of assessment
Assessment by the teacher at the end of each semester.
Criteria
How serious and responsible is the student for the individual career?
Pass requirements
The student has completed this module if they are awarded a minimum grade of 5.5 at the end of the second semester.
Examination procedure
At the end of both semesters the instructor fills out an assessment form. Assessment at the end of the autumn semester is formative and expressed in terms of satisfactory/unsatisfactory. It indicates a student's progress in this module. No ECs are awarded and there is no resit. Modules can only be absolved, and ECs awarded, after the end of the spring semester.
Tests conducted online are valid only if it is done without interruption. The assessor will decide whether or not the test was valid.
Resit options
See the Education and Assessment Plan.
