Aims
Analysis of sound and silence in various forms of digital visual media (short and long films, television, commercials, games, etc.). Practical applications.

Going into depth with various forms of media scoring.
Advanced concepts of storyforming/storytelling with digital media.
Understanding of the emotional content of a film or television scene / games passage.
Mechanisms of action of picture/music.
Sequence analysis (stylistic, creative means of the entire visuals explained on a representative scene).
Games music history (brief glimpse).
Correlation of formal/cinematic/theatre means with content-related aspects.
Interaction between music and other audio elements in different media.
Short excursion: role of non-music audio in media.
Real-world assignments: developing strategies.

Group classes. Mainly online. Occasionally on campus with hybrid streaming possibilities.

Mode(s) of assessment
Assessment by the instructor at the end of each semester.
Assignments in media scoring and analysis which are assessed throughout the course.
The final grade is largely based on one final individual assignment, combined with smaller individual and group assignments during the course.
Criteria
The student should have mastered the elements under Content.
Pass requirements
The student has completed this module if being awarded a minimum grade of 5.5 at the end of the second semester.
Examination procedure
At the end of both semesters the instructor fills out an assessment form designed specifically for this module. Assessment is comprised of a verbal evaluation and a concluding grade. Assessment at the end of the autumn semester is formative and expressed in terms of satisfactory/unsatisfactory. It indicates a student's progress in this module. No ECs are awarded and there is no resit. Modules can only be absolved, and ECs awarded, after the end of the spring semester.
Tests conducted online are valid only if it is done without interruption. The assessor will decide whether or not the test was valid.
